Patrick (Rick) Boyd
Associate
Patrick (Rick) Boyd is an intellectual property attorney with a special focus on patents. He practices in Ater Wynne's growing Patent Practice Group, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Rick brings to the practice more than 15 years of engineering experience in materials, equipment, and semiconductor-related manufacturing processes cultivated while working at Intel Corporation. Rick is also an inventor, with over a dozen issued U.S. patents and other patents pending.

Rick began preparing and prosecuting patent applications in 2004. However, even before practicing Patent Law before the USPTO, Rick spent three years implementing and improving the patent processes in-house at Intel, where he received Intel’s highest individual achievement award for his work.

Rick has written and successfully prosecuted patent applications in a broad array of technical disciplines, and is recognized by his clients for his ability to rapidly grasp both the nature and advantages of their inventions. He also helps clients to understand and navigate the numerous and complex intellectual property considerations under Federal contracts and sub-contracts, including grant agreements.

First as an engineer, then an inventor, and now an attorney, Rick’s focus remains the same – providing effective solutions to complex problems.
