Jim Stewart is a patent, trademark and copyright lawyer who combines his background in art, music, science and law to grasp the value of his clients’ innovations and protect their ideas, work and business. He is Of Counsel in the firm’s Emerging Business and Intellectual Property Groups.
Jim advises clients on domestic and international patent, trademark and copyright applications, and provides counsel on searching, preparing, filing, prosecuting, licensing and enforcement of patents in the electronics, medical, forestry and creative services industries, among others. He has been registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office since 1986 and has a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Jim is unusual among patent attorneys in his use of concise, simple writing in his patent applications. Clients often express wonder at his simple prose and ability to capture the uniqueness of their inventions.
When not practicing law, Jim plays tennis and racquetball with his grown son, plays house with his recently adopted family, and writes poetry and fiction.
