Mike Shackelford's practice focuses on corporate counseling and business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and venture capital financings. Mike served as the Managing Partner of Ater Wynne for 12 years, ending his term of service in the summer of 2013. Prior to becoming the firm's Managing Partner, Mike was the Chair of Ater Wynne's Business Department for ten years.
Mike has served as lead transaction counsel representing both privately- and publicly-owned businesses in a variety of industries, including the technology, bioscience, manufacturing, distribution and warehousing, food processing, beverage, retail, and public relations industries. Mike also assists both privately- and publicly-owned businesses with the design, implementation and administration of equity-based, incentive compensation plans and arrangements, including stock options, restricted stock, stock appreciation rights, phantom stock and restricted stock units.
In addition, Mike is actively involved in the firm's Wealth Preservation Practice Group, where he assists clients with their estate planning needs, including the preparation of wills and trust agreements. Mike also has extensive experience administering both probate and non-probate estates.
Mike has been listed in Oregon Super Lawyers magazine from 2006 through 2009 and 2012 through 2017. He has also been selected by his peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America 2015 in the field of Corporate Law.
