Benchmark Litigation Honor

Benchmark Litigation, now in its 10th Edition, is an annual publication that distinguishes America's leading business litigation firms and attorneys. The results are based on nation-wide interviews of individuals in the legal profession, internal counsel, and business owners. This year Benchmark recognized four partners in our litigation practice as Litigation Stars: Michael “Sam” Sandmire, Chair of the Litigation Department, Steven K. Frank Curci Appointment to CRAB

Portland, Oregon –  Frank X. Curci, a partner and bioscience, intellectual property and business attorney at the law firm of Ater Wynne LLP, has been re-elected to another term on the board of directors of Cancer Research And Biostatistics (CRAB®). Curci is also the chair of CRAB's Strategic Planning Committee.

CRAB is a nonprofit bioscience organization based in Seattle. CRAB's primary mission is to help conquer cancer by participating in key aspects of designing, conducting and analyzing the results arising out of cancer clinical trials. CRAB also takes a leadership role in forming collaborations and other strategic alliances with biopharmaceutical companies and other research institutions to foster cancer clinical trials and clinical drug development.

"Frank is a recognized bioscience and intellectual property attorney with a reputation for advising bioscience institutions regarding a wide range of scientific and medical research and technology issues, including forming bioscience collaborations and developing strategies for the protection and use of their data, technology and other IP rights," said Antje Hoering, Ph.D., President and CEO of CRAB. "Frank's experiences structuring bioscience collaborations and other research alliances, and advising bioscience entities regarding their overall IP strategies, are extremely valuable to CRAB because we are increasingly taking the leadership role in research collaborations."

Curci focuses his practice in the areas of intellectual property, bioscience and technology law. He represents clients in both the bioscience and high technology industries. Curci's clients include research institutions, universities, technology incubators, high tech-industry companies, and other bioscience-industry companies.

Ater Wynne Senior Counsel Appointed Co-Chair of Cleaner Air Oregon Advisory Committee

Portland, Oregon – Ater Wynne is pleased to announce that Senior Counsel Claudia K. Powers has been appointed to Co-Chair the Cleaner Air Oregon Advisory Committee.  Governor Kate Brown announced the launch of Cleaner Air Oregon in April 2016 as a new initiative to reform industrial air toxics emissions regulations and to better protect public health and environmental quality, while supporting an innovative and competitive economy in Oregon’s communities. The Oregon Health Authority and the Department of Environmental Quality are convening the Advisory Committee as part of the effort to bring together an all-inclusive range of stakeholders and engage the public in a formal rulemaking process that will reform Oregon’s industrial air toxics regulations.

Claudia Powers is chair of the Environmental Practice Group at Ater Wynne.  She is a noted expert in environmental law and has worked extensively with local, state, and federal regulators to successful effect for over 30 years.
