Ater Wynne’s Wealth Preservation Group offers more than a quarter century of experience in wealth preservation strategies for clients with complex and sophisticated needs. Our lawyers work collaboratively with other lawyers and professional advisors to achieve the goals and objectives of the client. We value teamwork, service, trust and integrity. We value most our clients and the unique and individual needs, goals and objectives of each client. To each wealth preservation client, our attorneys are personal legal advisors.
In preserving the client’s wealth, our attorneys will seek to understand the client’s overall goals and objectives. Once understood, our attorneys will work with the client to develop strategies to minimize inheritance and estate tax, protect assets, and achieve the client’s goals and objectives.
Frequently the client’s goals and objectives involve the timing of transferring assets to children or grandchildren; identifying what assets to transfer; determining whether the transfer is outright or in trust; and whether the transfer is during lifetime or at death. Mixed in with the desire to have family members receive the benefit of the client’s hard work and good fortune, is the client’s desire to give back to the community through charitable giving. Our attorneys are experienced in strategies to achieve the client’s charitable intent including creating family foundations, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts to name a few strategies.
Our lawyers understand the importance of working with you to develop strategies that work for the client. Strategies that the client understands and can explain to others. To achieve this, the partnership between the client and the attorney must be one of trust and communication. We at Ater Wynne work hard to deserve our client’s trust through communication and integrity. Our clients include:
• Individuals • Owners of family-owned businesses • Entrepreneurs • Surviving spouses • Executives • Physicians • Dentists • Lawyers • Accountants • Multi-generational families with sophisticated needs
Our lawyers are experienced in probate and trust administration. Our attorneys are experienced in developing strategies for post-mortem planning of estates to minimize inheritance and estate taxes so that the beneficiaries receive more of the estate. Our attorneys frequently represent the personal representative of a probate estate and/or the successor trustee of a trust advising the personal representative and successor trustee on their fiduciary duties and assisting in complying with the Oregon Uniform Trust Code and the Probate Code. We are frequently called on to advise and/or prepare the inheritance and/or estate tax return. When we are not preparing the tax return, we are working with the accountants in the preparation of those returns. We are constantly looking for ways to minimize the taxes so more of the family wealth is available for the family beneficiaries. Our clients include:
• Banks, trust companies • Individual successor trustees or personal representatives • Beneficiaries seeking information about the estate |
